Today’s musing. Crossing borders by train highlights their arbitrary nature. Imagined communities. Artificial constructs. I have crossed many.

What is their purpose? If it is to provide protection how can we feel lonely and isolated? Is it because the overall community is more important than the individual.

In this virtual community we share and learn. However, we open ourselves to hate and anger as others respond to our thoughts. We are brought up with the idea that communities are safe, supportive and maternal but they are not always.

Intolerance and division are part of all our communities – it’s our collective work to promote tolerance and understanding to bring us closer together.
